Odd but Nice Product you Might like
One look at this knife storage product will tell you that it is very unconventional, but potentially useful.
I bought this set mostly for its design value. I had some knives I wanted to get out of a drawer and also had a wood panel in my kitchen that was previously damaged with screw holes followed by my attempts to fix them which made them much worse. So I decided to put 3 of these 4 disks up in the area of the wood damage and to put some utility knives on them. I have been successful in achieving the visual impact I sought, plus the display of the knives is very functional. I did not put any really high end knives on these things, and I do have questions about whether using them might prematurely dull some knife edges from repeated use and subsequent replacing them on these magnet disks. I don't have any observations on that score, however, as my use of these magnet disks is simply too brief.
Installation is easy. I would plan the location carefully...
This is the one.
Easy to install. I would rate the magnet strength a 10. If you are in the market for wall mount magnets this is your product.
Very good, but insanely expensive
These are preposterously expensive. Each one is a metal disk that you screw to the wall, with a big rubber coated magnet that fits over it. Charging more than $20 each seems excessive for how simple they are.
If the cost doesn't bother you, they work great. The magnets are strong, they hold knives very securely, and the rubber bumpers protect the blades pretty well. I use mine for big slicers and cleavers that won't fit easily into a drawer-based knife block. Make sure you pull the knife away from the block, and not across it, or you may take slices out of the rubber.
I also have a big, heavy, teflon coated frying pan that I don't like to store with other pans. These are strong enough to hold it securely. (I make no promises that it'll hold your frying pan; mine is too heavy for the girlfriend, but not cast iron.)
If these were half the cost (or a quarter), I'd give them 5 stars. For most people, they can get a decent bar-shaped magnetic knife...
